Leonela has a YouTube channel, Leonela Cevallos, she shares this pattern with us in one of her videos. She does a great job with all the details. Thank you Leonela for sharing this beautiful pattern with us for free.

HOW DO YOU MAKE THESE CROCHET FLOWER COASTERS?

This is not my pattern, so I cannot write it on my page, however, I am providing the link to Leonela’s video, Crochet Tutorial: How to make quick and easy crochet flower coasters.

Do watch the video and learn how to crochet these beautiful coasters.

If you want the written pattern, Leonela has provided a detailed blog post with step-by-step pictures which you can find here Crochet Flower Coasters

You can use different color combinations. This is by far the easiest and best-looking flower coaster tutorial that I have tried.

Once you make a few and learn the pattern, you can easily make one in under 15 minutes.

I loved the ease of this pattern so much, I made so many color combinations as you can see!

Crochet Flower Coasters

Notes:

Use cotton yarn if you are using these as coasters. They are washable and reusable.  Acrylic yarn is not recommended and is not usually used when making coasters, hot pads, or trivets as they are not heat resistant.

You could make these flowers and string them together to create a flower garland to decorate your home, it would look very pretty especially in a girl’s room.

If you want to make the flowers smaller or bigger just use a thinner yarn with a smaller hook or a thicker yarn with a bigger hook. This holds good for any crochet project.

Weave in your ends in 3 different directions so that they are secure even if washed.

TIP: To keep your yarn needle and scissors together, add a magnet to your scissors, you will never lose your needle! (You can see my picture above in supplies needed) Let me know if this tip was helpful!

How do you make these Crochet Sunflower Coasters?

Crochet Sunflower Coasters

The pattern I followed is from a video tutorial on YouTube. It is from the channel Butterfly Craft DIY. You can find it here.

There are many tutorials on Pinterest and YouTube for Sunflower Coasters, believe me, I tried quite a few! In the end, I liked the look of these coasters. They are easy to make and are just the right size. (They are actually bigger than regular coasters, but since sunflowers are big flowers I think they look nice bigger.)

5 DIY Jute Home Decor Ideas

Here are 5 DIY Jute Home Decor Ideas that you can make with jute string.

Jute string is a natural material and can be used in many ways, the most common way of using jute string is probably to tie up packages. But you can use it in many more ways than just that, as you can see below.

It is always better to reuse something than to just throw it away. Especially in today’s world where there is so much plastic, making something out of natural material is always better for the environment and it looks so much better in my opinion.

5 DIY Jute home decor ideas

5 DIY JUTE HOME DECOR IDEAS:

MINI JUTE BASKETS:

Mini jute string basket

These little baskets are perfect for holding your earrings or anything small. They are very easy to make and only need two things, jute string, and glue!

All you have to do is use hot glue and wrap the string in a spiral around itself. When you have a circle big enough for a basket, wrap the jute string on top of itself in a circular motion so you get the sides of the basket. Wrap it as much as you want the height of the basket to be.

When done just finish off with a dab of glue.

JUTE PENCIL HOLDER

Jute string pencil holder

This pencil holder is a tin can covered with jute string. There are many ways to make it your own, use paint, beads, markers, ribbon., etc to design your pencil holder.

Wrap the tin can with jute string from top to bottom using hot glue or regular glue. Then decorate however you please!

Use it on your desk for your pens and pencils. It can be used for faux flowers, makeup brushes., etc.

I used a crocheted flower and a thumbtack in the middle to decorate this pencil holder.

FARMHOUSE WOODEN BEAD GARLANDS:

Farmhouse bead garlands

I have already posted about this wooden bead garland before. To read all about it and how to make it, click here.

It makes a great piece of decor in any room of your house.

JUTE-COVERED DECOR BALLS:

Jute covered decor balls

My daughter at one point was obsessed with LOL dolls, but now she cannot believe that she actually liked playing with them! 😂

Anyway, the dolls come in these pink plastic balls. So I decided instead of throwing them out, I could recycle them. I covered them with jute string and voilà home decor accents to use in your vases!

All you have to do is wrap the balls using the jute string. I used a hot glue gun.

Here also you can add ribbon, sequins, paint., etc to decorate them.

JUTE COASTERS:

Jute coasters

Coasters are just so useful and can be made out of pretty much anything! These jute coasters have that farmhouse feel and are easy to make.

I used a felt circle as a base to make it more sturdy. You can also use a corkboard to make it even better.

After that wrap the jute string around itself in a circular motion using hot glue, keep wrapping until you get the size you need. Cut the string and glue it.

Jute coasters
I painted a green triangle on the coaster using acrylic paint.

I came across this idea of wrapping the jute string with thread in sections, this makes a cool coaster too, do check it out on HGTV.com

Hope you liked reading about these 5 ideas to use up any jute string you have lying around!

5 Useful Crochet Projects

These 5 Useful Crochet Projects are easy to do and make great handmade gifts for your family and friends!

Crochet is one of those hobbies with which you can make a lot of useful things. You can make them in whichever color you want to match your decor or your style.

There are so many free patterns available, all you have to do is search on google, or if you are a visual person like me search on Pinterest.

I have saved so many patterns that I wonder if I will ever be able to try all of them!

However, I am sharing the patterns that I have tried and liked. Thank you to these wonderful designers who have shared these patterns for free! Please do visit their websites to get the patterns. I will provide the links below.

Here are the 5 Useful Crochet Projects that I have tried and loved:

Crochet Potholder

Crochet Potholder

This potholder is really thick and made of cotton yarn. Cotton yarn is recommended for making potholders. This pattern is worked in the round with just single crochet! So it is easy to do and can be made in a few hours if you have the time. It actually took a few days as I worked on it maybe around an hour every day for about 3 to 4 days. I used almost one whole skein of cotton yarn. I bought my yarn at Walmart.

Crochet Potholder

You can find the pattern here: Super Easy Crochet Potholder

Crochet Coasters/Mug Rugs

Mug Rugs/Coasters

I absolutely love the way these turned out! You can make these really fast, I think I made 2 a day probably just working on them for about an hour or 2. These were easy to make, and you just add tassels to make them look really cute.

Make sets of these to give as gifts, I’m sure your family and friends will love this useful beautiful gift.

Crochet Coasters/Mug Rugs

The pattern is by Amanda at Love & Stitch.com and can be found here. The Darcie mug rug

Key Ring Wrist Lanyard

Key Ring Holder

Have you ever had to go out somewhere with just your keys and not have anywhere to put them? If you didn’t have any pockets or if you didn’t want to carry your handbag. I’ve been in this situation many times when taking my kids to the park. I always ended up carrying my keys in my hand. These lanyards work up very fast and can solve this problem.  So now I just put my keys on this lanyard and slide it on my wrist. This makes a really useful gift. You can make several of these in a day. It took less than 30 minutes to make one.

Key Ring Lanyard

This pattern is from Lisa at Stitch in Progress, it can be found here.

Cotton Bath Scrubbies

Bath Scrubbies

These bath scrubbers are so quick to do, you can make one in 10 minutes. Make them in different colors.

I found that these do not lather very well, so I tried one with acrylic yarn, which worked a little better. Let me know if you find the perfect yarn to make these.

I am all for reducing my plastic waste, so I started using these instead of plastic loofahs which are really bad for the environment.

Crochet Bath Scrubbies

This pattern is by Marie at Makes and Takes, You can find the pattern here Crochet Bath Scrubbies

UPDATE: After a lot of trials and errors, I have finally found the bath scrubber that works well! So I have an entire post on them, Bath Scrubbers  Do check it out.

Scrunchies

Velvet Scrunchies

Scrunchies have become very popular nowadays. These velvet scrunchies as so soft and can be made in less than half an hour. These make great gifts too. You can make them in several colors, not just velvet but lots of other yarns too.

Velvet Scrunchies

This pattern is by Marianne at Yarnworx Studio. You can find her pattern here Velvety Scrunchies
