These Macrame Spiral Wristlets are so handy(pun intended!) and easy to make. You can make these using the half square knot. If you would like to find out more about Macrame and how to start, please do check out my post 10 Fun Hobbies to do at Home, I have listed some resources that helped me learn Macrame from scratch!
Have you ever gone out for a walk and did not have a pocket to keep your keys, so you have to hold them in your hand all the time? It’s happened to me many times and I wish my hands were free especially when I’m with my kids.
These wristlets are the perfect answer to this problem. They can hold your keys are even a small lightweight purse.
They are made from soft recycled cotton and are comfortable on the wrist.
What supplies do you need for these Macrame Spiral Wristlets?
3mm or 4mm cotton cord (My cord is from Ganxxet.com) ( I have only bought Ganxxet cord as it is very high quality and is recycled cotton cord)
Pins or tape

How do you make these Macrame Spiral Wristlets?
Measure and cut 2 lengths of cord 300cms each.
Fix them in the keychain clasp with a lark’s head knot. When you are doing this make sure that the 2 outer cords are longer than the inner ones as you are tying the knots with them. Fold the cords at 60cms. So the 2 inner cords will be 60cms.
Start tying half square knots and it starts twisting. Continue with these half-square knots for about 44 cms. Measure this on your wristlet if it goes around comfortably.
Next, fold the wristlet in half and put the remaining cords through the clasp onto the other side. make a gathering knot on top of all the cords.
Cut off extra cords. Neaten it by pushing the edges of the cut cords underneath to hide them. It took me about half an hour to make one. That’s it your wristlet is ready.
I followed this YouTube tutorial from Bantiite DIY. In the tutorial, she uses T-shirt yarn which looks nice and soft. I personally have not tried it but it looks good!
You can make these to give as gifts, they are functional and easy to make.
NOTES:
These wristlets can be made with 3mm or 4 mm cord, or you try with T-shirt yarn like in the YouTube video. I used 3mm recycled cotton cord from Ganxxet for these wristlets. The colors I used are natural, yellow, agave, pink, mauve, and aqua.
You can make them shorter or longer by tying less or more knots.
It is easy to make them a bit different by tying the spiral knot in a different color.
You can use these wristlets to carry a bunch of keys or a light purse but I wouldn’t recommend using them to carry around anything heavier.
