Simple Macrame Statement Earrings

Macrame Statement Earrings are simple to make and they really do make a statement! You can be sure that everyone will take notice of these beauties!

They are lightweight and will not pull your ears and weigh them down. You can make them in any color you want to match all your outfits! Just make a few different knots for a totally new look!

If you are not familiar with macrame, it is a very easy craft to learn as you do not need any special tools. All you need to learn is to tie a few knots with macrame cord. The amazing part about macrame is you can create so many beautiful things with just a few knots. If you are interested in learning, do read my post about 10 fun hobbies to do at home, I have mentioned many useful resources to learn macrame.

What do you need to make these Macrame Statement Earrings?

Supplies for macrame statement earrings

Cotton cord 3mm

Scissors

Hoop base

Earring hooks ( I forgot to include them in the picture above, however they are pictured below in my Amazon finds)

Brush

It’s pretty much the same supplies you need for any macrame project. That’s why it is very easy to learn as no special skills are required!

Here are my Amazon picks for this project:

Which knots do we use for these earrings?

Larks head knot – this knot is used to attach the cords to the hoop. Fold the cord in half, insert the loop into the hoop bring the ends of the cords through the loop and pull to tighten.

Square knot – 4 cords are required to make a square knot. Lay the first cord over the next two cords like making a number 4. Take the 4th cord over the first cord and under the middle two and pull up. Tighten the first and 4th cords to get the first half of the square knot.

Repeat starting from the 4th cord to complete your square knot.

If you are new to macrame, I recommend watching this video from Soulful Notions about the 7 must-know Macrame Knots.

How do you make these Macrame Statement Earrings?

EARRING 1: SCALLOP HOOP BASE

Simple Macrame Statement Earrings

Cut 4 cords 10 inches each.

Attach to your base hoop with a larks head knot.

Tie 2 square knots across using 4 cords at a time.

Next, tie one square knot in the center using the 4 cords in the center.

Trim the cords to the length you desire. Brush out cords and cut again.

I cut the cords in a V shape. But you can cut them straight if you like.

Add your earring hook and your statement earrings are ready!

Using the last cord, tie 2 double half hitch knots diagonally across.

Last make 2 more knots to close up the ‘v’ shape.

Brush the cords and trim them.

Add your earring hooks and they are ready.

That’s it! It is that simple!!

If you like you can stiffen the fringe of the earring with some spray starch. I use this Aleene’s stiffener, It’s optional though.

Macrame Feather Earrings

Macrame Feather Earrings

These Macrame Feather Earrings are very quick and easy to make. You need just a little cord to make one pair. They are trendy and look cute with any casual outfit.

They make lovely gifts for any occasion. Just make them and slip them in one of these DIY beautiful envelopes!! Everything is handmade from the gift to the packaging! I am sure that is really something special that anyone can appreciate!

Macrame Feather Earrings

WHAT ARE THE SUPPLIES NEEDED FOR THESE MACRAME FEATHER EARRINGS?

Supplies for macrame feather earrings

Cotton cord 2mm or 3mm ( I used 3mm soft cotton cord from Ganxxet.com)

Scissors

Brush

Jump rings

Earring hooks

Pliers

Here are my Amazon picks for this project:

(Disclaimer: These are affiliate links, which means if you buy any of these recommended products, I will receive a small commission from Amazon at no extra cost to you. Please know that I only recommend products that I know to be of great quality. Thank you so much for your support!)

HOW DO YOU MAKE THESE MACRAME FEATHER EARRINGS?

Macrame Feather Earrings

First, measure and cut your cord. You need 2 lengths of around 4.5inches each.

Then, you need 8 lengths of 3.5inches. ( this is for one pair of earrings)

To make one earring, take one of the 4.5inch cords and put it through the jump ring, and make sure the two ends are together.

Now use 2 cords of 3.5-inch length to make the next knot. Place one cord folded in half underneath the cord attached to the jump ring.

After that, using the other folded cord, put the loop into the two ends of the other cord, and vice versa.

Please refer to the pictures, it can be a little hard to explain this in words!

Pull both ends out and the two cords should form a knot on the middle cord. Pull tight.

Do the same with 2 more cords.

Take a brush and brush out the cords. Trim the cords with scissors in the shape of a feather.

Open the jump ring slightly, put the earring hook in and close it. That’s it! One earring is ready!

Make one more earring and your first pair of feather earrings are ready!!

That was easy, wasn’t it?? Now make a whole lot for yourself or for your friends and family!!

NOTES:

3 mm cord is quite thick, I think 2 mm would be perfect for these.

Trimming the fringes does take a while. My recommendation would be to have a template in the shape of a feather or leaf. Use the template to cut out the feather shape. Especially if you are making a whole lot, a template would make it much easier and consistent.

Be careful while brushing out the fringes, if the brush catches one of the threads of the knot, it could untangle the cord and you might have to redo it.

You could make them longer by adding more cords.

Another way of making these earrings would be to add different colored cords or shades of one color cord. That would look really pretty.

Macrame Tassel Earrings

Macrame Tassel Earrings

Hi Everyone! This post is long overdue! However,  I am so excited to announce that I started an Etsy shop! It’s always been a dream of mine and I am so happy that I finally did it. So that’s why I have been silent on my blog as I have been working really hard to get my shop going!

If you would like to take a look at my shop. Please click here HappyKnotsandLoops.

Many of the items in my shop have been featured on my blog, these earrings are one of the products in my shop.

Macrame Earrings are very easy to make and look really stylish! I have tried tassel earrings before with embroidery thread.  If you are interested in making them, you can check them out here.

These macrame earrings go a step further by having a couple of knots on the top and a tassel hanging from it. They are quite trendy and have a boho-chic vibe!

I love making this kind of earrings as they use little cord and you can make them in many colors to match all your outfits. I think they would look good for casual wear and even otherwise!

Macrame Tassel Earrings

WHAT SUPPLIES DO YOU NEED FOR THESE MACRAME TASSEL EARRINGS?

Macrame earrings supplies

Cotton cord – 2mm or 3mm ( I used 3mm as that’s what I had) (My cord is a soft recycled cotton cord from Ganxxet.com)

Scissors

Jump rings

Earring hooks

Embroidery thread (optional)

Brush

Jewelry Pliers

Here are my Amazon Picks for this project:

(Disclaimer: These are affiliate links, which means if you buy any of these recommended products, I will receive a small commission from Amazon at no extra cost to you. Please know that I only recommend products that I know to be of great quality. Thank you so much for your support!)

HOW DO YOU MAKE THESE MACRAME TASSEL EARRINGS?

Attach 2 cords to a jump ring.

Place them in an X pattern.

Next, you are going to make a Chinese knot.

Repeat the Chinese knot 3 times.

Lastly, tie a gathering knot with a contrasting thread. ( embroidery thread works great.) or you can use the same cord but it might be too thick.

Brush out the tassel and cut to your desired length.

Attach an earring hook to the jump ring using earring pliers.

That’s it! Make another earring and there you have it a pair of beautiful macrame earrings!

STEP BY STEP PICTURES:

Macrame tassel earrings

I tried my best to explain with step-by-step pictures, but if you are still unclear about some steps, here is a great video on YouTube to learn how to make these earrings from MadebyYannie.

Macrame Tassel Earrings

Notes:

These earrings are very easy to customize, you can make them longer by adding more knots. ( just remember to use longer cords)

The tassel can be longer or shorter. You can even cut the tassel in a different shape. For example a V.

I highly recommend the cord from Ganxxet. I have also mentioned my picks from Amazon, full disclaimer though, I am not entirely sure of the softness of the cord from Amazon.

Macrame Tassel Earrings

Crochet Christmas Earrings (All free patterns!)

I am so excited to bring you these Crochet Christmas Earrings!

I love Christmas time. It’s such a lovely time of year. I think it is one of the few times a year that everyone dresses up. And what’s better than having some beautiful handmade crochet earrings to match your outfits?!

These crochet earrings are beautiful, use just a little thread, and can be made in no time!

Crochet Christmas earrings

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO MAKE THESE CROCHET CHRISTMAS EARRINGS?

Aunt Lydia’s Crochet cotton Size 10 in Christmas colors – I used red, white, and green

Crochet hook – size 1.90mm

Scissors

Yarn needle

Jump rings

Earring hooks

Earring pliers

Stiffen Quick (optional but recommended)

Here are my Amazon picks for this project:

(Disclaimer: These are affiliate links, which means if you buy any of these recommended products, I will receive a small commission from Amazon at no extra cost to you. Please know that I only recommend products that I love and know to be of great quality. Thank you so much for your support!)

HOW DO YOU MAKE THESE CROCHET CHRISTMAS EARRINGS?

The patterns for all these 6 earrings are mentioned below. All are free patterns.

Crochet Christmas Earrings

To assemble the earring:

Stiffen the crochet piece by spraying with Stiffen Quick, once dry attach a jump ring and earring hook to make the earring.

Attach a jump ring to the top of the finished crochet earring. Add an earring hook to the jump ring using a jewelry plier. That’s it!

CHRISTMAS TREE EARRINGS:

Christmas tree earrings

These beauties are from a YouTube video by Creggy’s crochet. You can find the video here.

It is easy to follow the pattern and a pair of earrings can be made in less than an hour.

Christmas tree earrings

CHRISTMAS SNOWFLAKE EARRING:

Snowflake earrings

– these simple crochet snowflake earrings look so pretty and dainty. You can find the pattern here.

CHRISTMAS BOW EARRINGS:

Bow earrings

I thought these bows were really cute! The pattern for the bow is from Pinterest, it is a picture pattern. I actually like diagrams better than written patterns, I feel they are easier to follow!

If you need help reading diagrams, you can take a look at this helpful article from joyofmotioncrochet.com

I found this free written pattern from daisycottagedesigns.net  if you prefer following a written pattern.

I made the bow, next I added 6 jump rings one into the other to make a chain. Next, I added the earring hook. That’s it! The bows work up very fast. I think I made 2 bows in 10 minutes or less!

Bow earrings

CHRISTMAS MINI CIRCLE EARRINGS:

Double circle earrings

These earrings I actually included in one of my previous posts 10 crochet earrings – all free patterns!

I used 2 crochet buttons connecting them with a jump ring. The pattern of these cute buttons is from Marrose – Colorful Crochet and Crafts.

STAR EARRINGS:

Star earrings

Find the pattern for these earrings here.

This pattern was also in a previous post of mine but in a different color. They are called birthday earrings, but I thought they look like a star and made them in white for Christmas.

DUAL COLORED CHRISTMAS FLOWER EARRINGS:

I actually think these look like a poinsettia! These earrings are made with 2 colors of thread.

The pattern can be found here.

This pattern is a hand-drawn pattern that I found on Pinterest. It is the first one in the picture. When making this earring hold 2 colors of thread and follow the pattern.

NOTES:

To make these earrings I used a 1.90mm crochet hook. Usually, when working with this fine crochet cotton, you can use  1.5mm to 2.5mm crochet hooks. When you buy the thread, it does give you which size hook to use on the label.

To finish off the earring, use a yarn needle to weave in the ends for a neat look.

You can use spray starch to stiffen the earrings, my recommendation is Stiffen Quick, it is available on Amazon and Craft Stores.

DIY Tassel Earrings

DIY Tassel Earrings are easy and fun to make!

I have seen these tassel earrings all over Pinterest and Etsy. They have been listed on Etsy from anywhere between $5 to 25$ a pair! You can make these DIY Tassel Earrings for less than a dollar a pair!

These earrings are so easy to make, in fact, my 12-year-old daughter made these all by herself. You only need a few supplies like embroidery floss in different colors, scissors, jump rings, and earring hooks.

DIY Tassel earrings

Embroidery Floss: Of course, embroidery floss is the star of the show! It comes in every color imaginable! So you can make lots of tassel earrings to match all your outfits in no time! You can even experiment with mixing and matching colors. Ombre is all the rage nowadays, so it’s easy to make these earrings using shades of one color. You can even get silk embroidery thread which is even more beautiful.

SUPPLIES NEEDED FOR MAKING THESE DIY TASSEL EARRINGS:

Supplies for DIY Tassel Earrings

Embroidery floss

Scissors

Jump rings 6mm

Earring hooks

Pliers

All these are available in any craft store or you can buy them using the above links at Amazon.com

So gather all your supplies and DIY these beautiful Earrings.

They certainly will make a beautiful handmade gift, wrapped up in these DIY handmade envelopes!

( The above links are affiliate links, if you do make a purchase using these links, I will get a small commission from Amazon at no extra cost to you. Please know that I only recommend products that I love and know to be of great quality. Thank you for your support!)

HOW DO YOU MAKE THESE DIY TASSEL EARRINGS?

DIY Tassel earrings

If you have seen my DIY Farmhouse Bead Garland, they were made with tassels on either end. So I am using more or less the same method to make these tassels.

Follow these steps to make your Tassel Earrings:

  • Wrap the floss about 20 times around your 4 fingers. Or if you wish cut a sturdy piece of cardboard into a small rectangle. Use that to wrap the thread. Cut off the floss at the bottom.
  • Take out the wrapped thread and lay it on a flat surface.
  • Tie the tassel a little bit from the top using a long piece of thread.
  • Open the jump ring using the pliers, add it into all the loops on the top part of the tassel, and close it securely so that none of the threads come out.
  • Wrap the thread around and secure it.
  • In the video I have mentioned below, the lady uses a yarn needle to weave the thread into the tassel., you can do that if you wish.
  • Cut the loops on the bottom part of the tassel, and trim it evenly.
  • Use a fine-tooth comb to separate the threads, so it looks finer.
  • Add the earring hook to the jump ring and your earring is ready!

Step by Step pictures:

Now make one more earring the same way and you have your first pair of Tassel Earrings!

Green Tassel Earrings

(Do you like this earring tree?! I found it at Daiso, I thought it was really cute!)

I did try my best to explain how it is done, but if you are a visual person and like learning things by watching videos, please do check out this video from The Crafts Channel. It is a very well-explained video on how to make your own Tassel Earrings.

It’s so quick and easy. Hope you are inspired to try these out! Get your kids involved too, I am sure they will love it!

10 Easy Crochet Earrings (All Free Patterns!)

10 Easy Crochet Earrings

These 10 Easy Crochet Earrings are beautiful and can complement any outfit. I love making earrings as they are simple and quick to make. You do not need a lot of thread, so they are a great scrap yarn/thread project! You can make all 10 pairs in probably an hour!

The fun part about making your own earrings is that you can customize them to the outfits you already have. The availability of different colors of threads makes it possible to have beautiful handmade earrings in any color imaginable!

All these 10 pairs of earrings are from free patterns that I will share with all of you. A big thank you to all the designers for sharing their talent with the world for free!

These earrings mostly use magic circles, chains, single crochet, double crochet, treble, and picot., most of them start with a magic circle. All of them have been tried and tested by me, so I am recommending the ones that I found easiest to do.

Magic Circle:

I actually did not know what a magic circle was until recently! That is a true story! Lol

I always started my projects with a series of chains joined with a slip stitch.

When I saw a magic circle in so many patterns, I decided it was time to learn a magic circle! So after a lot of tutorials and practice, I finally managed to figure it out.

Any pattern started with a magic circle can be tightened to the point where the center of the circle kind of disappears, so your work looks much neater.

I am sharing the tutorial that helped me the most. You can check it out here.

What are the supplies you need for making these 10 Easy Crochet Earrings?

Supplies for Crochet Earrings

Crochet thread size 10 or Embroidery thread, different colors

Crochet hook – size 1.5mm or 1.65mm

Scissors

Earring hooks

Jump rings (5 mm jump rings)

Pliers (to open and close the jump rings)

(The above links are affiliate links, if you choose to buy any product using these links, I will receive a small commission from Amazon at no extra cost to you. Please know that I only recommend products that I love and know to be of great quality. Thank you for your support)

If you would like to try Amazon for free for 30 days, sign up here!

How do you make these earrings?

Once you have finished your crochet earring, you can use a jump ring to join the little crochet motif to the earring hook. Using pliers, open the jump ring, and attach it to the crochet motif. Put the earring hook also onto the jump ring and close it up. Make sure that it is closed. Your earring is ready! Each earring is different, and each is finished in its own way, so please visit the websites mentioned below to get the exact pattern. Thank you!

Let’s get to these 10 Easy Crochet Earrings and their free patterns!

This pattern is actually for a crochet necklace, but I followed this pattern to make 2 different color buttons and joined them together with jump rings to make earrings. The pattern is for a beautiful necklace using colorful Crochet buttons The pattern for the little crochet buttons is from the blog Marrose, Colorful Crochet Crafts and can be found here.  You can mix and match colors, just make one color, make only one button. You can pretty much customize your own earrings!

Granny Square Earring:

This granny square earring is cute and very easy to do.

I will try to explain how I made these., I have not written out a pattern before but will try my best to explain. If you have any questions, please leave me a comment down below, I will get back to you.

Start with 4 chains, and join with a slip stitch. That’s your beginning circle.

2nd round – start with 3 chains (counts as the first DC), 2 more DC, 3 chains, 3 DC into the chain circle of 1st round. Repeat 2 more times and join with a slip stitch to the top of the 3rd chain from the beginning. Your 2nd round is finished.

3rd round – Start with 3 chains ( counts as a DC), *3 DC into the 3 chain space of the 2nd round, 2 chains, and 3 DC into the same space. ( this is your first corner), one chain and repeat from* to the last chain space. For the last chain space, make 3 DC, 2 chains, then 2 DC, and finish with a slip stitch to the top of the 3rd chain that you started with. Fasten off. One earring is ready!  Make another one and you have a pair of Beautiful Granny Square Earrings!

Heart Earrings:

This can be made following a diagram found on this website, it is an amigurumi pattern of a bear with a heart on it. I followed the heart pattern and made 2 earrings using Size 10 thread.

Birthday Earrings:

These earrings can be found here.  The only change that I made was for the last row, I did not make any DCs into the previous row, I just made chains and a picot, then chains again, and joined it at the end with a slip stitch.

Birthday crochet earrings

Double Circle Earrings:

This last one is kind of made up by me, it is a very simple, double crochet in rounds. Make one big circle and one small. Put a jump ring through both circles so that they are joined together. Make the circles in different colors or the same color.

For the small circle: Start with a magic circle, 3 chains to start(counts as 1st dc), 23 DC into the magic circle. Finish off with a slip stitch to the top of the 3rd chain. (24 DC)

For the big circle: Make the small circle, but continue for the 2nd round. For the second round, alternate 1 DC, then 2 DC into each DC of the below round. (32 DC)

Easy Crochet Chain Earrings

Crochet chain earrings

These Easy Crochet Chain earrings are so easy to make! As the name suggests they are made with just chains! Can it get easier than that?! I don’t think so!

You can make them in many colors and have one to match every outfit you have! Mix and match colors and have a blast. They are so quick and easy you could make a whole collection in less than a day!!

Crochet chain earrings
Crochet chain earrings using Embroidery Thread

What do you need to make these Easy Crochet Chain Earrings?

Size 10 crochet thread in different colors or Embroidery thread

Crochet hook size 3.75MM

Earring hooks

Optional – Beads

Supplies for Crochet chain earrings

How do you make these Crochet Chain Earrings?

  1. I used 3 colors together. Hold the 3 colors together in your hand. Make a slip knot to start. ( for the embroidery thread I used 2 colors together)
  2. Insert your crochet hook into the slip knot and start making chains.
  3. Make 18 chains. ( For shorter loops make 12 chains)
  4. Close into a loop using a slip stitch. Chain one. Pull thread and cut. Tug on the thread to tighten.
  5. Make a knot with the beginning threads and the ending threads
  6. Attach an earring hook to the thread and tie twice, cut the excess thread. To make it secure I would recommend adding a drop of glue.
  7. Your earring is ready.
  8. Make another one and you have your first pair of earrings!

If you want to add beads, you can do so before adding the earring hook.

You could use 2 or 3 colors together. Mix and match the colors, or use shades of colors. The possibilities are endless!

I personally liked the earrings with the embroidery thread as the thread is thicker and the colors are more vibrant.

You can make these earrings and give them as gifts to family and friends. Or just make yourself your own designer collection!!

Enjoy making these easy earrings using just chains!
