These Crochet Bath Scrubbers can replace the plastic poofs most people use. I’ve been trying to find a good eco-friendly option to use myself, these fit the bill as they are made of 100% cotton yarn. Moreover, they can be washed, dried, and re-used.
It is a beginner-friendly project and works up quite fast. I have made these and have been using them for about 3 to 4 months now. I always like sharing crochet projects that I personally make and use and am happy with.
Please don’t expect them to lather up like a bath pouf, then you will be very disappointed! They do not produce lots of foam but get the job done! I am happy with how they work, and using them as a replacement for the plastic mesh poof I was using is a small step to being more eco-friendly.
You can make a whole stack and use them in rotation. Make a smaller version and they can also be used as face-scrubbers.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO MAKE THESE CROCHET BATH SCRUBBERS?
These as always the very basic supplies needed for any crochet project.
Cotton yarn ( I got mine from Joann’s)
Crochet hook size 5mm
Yarn needle

HOW DO YOU MAKE THESE CROCHET BATH SCRUBBERS?
I followed a pattern from the Hobby Lobby website that worked best for this. You can find it here. The pattern is actually for a dish scrubber but I decided to test it as a bath scrubber, and it does work well!
This easy pattern uses a magic circle to start, and double crochets all around. It has just 3 rows! Just click the link above to get the pattern. You make two circles and join them with single crochet all around. Next, you make the strap at the back and join it on both sides using a yarn needle.
I tried one earlier which you can find here: 5 easy crochet projects The pattern was just a single crochet circle with a loop as a handle. It did not work well, so I kept looking for different patterns and finally settled on this one.
If you are a beginner or an expert, this is an easy fast project to do. It took me around 45 minutes to an hour to make one. ( with many interruptions in between!)
NOTES:
To use these, all you have to do is wet the scrubber and put some soap on it. Have a bath, once you are done just wash it and squeeze it dry, hang it up. I wash mine once every week in the washing machine and hang it to dry.
The handle does tend to stretch over time, but it is still usable, as mentioned before I have had mine for the past 3 months.
These are soft and you can experiment with different brands of cotton yarn to find the best one that suits you.
You can replace them every 4 months or so, it just depends on the quality of yarn used.
